Neil T Anderson

Dr. Neil T. Anderson is Founder and President Emeritus of Freedom in Christ Ministries, which now has offices throughout the United States and in seven foreign countries. In 2005 Dr. Anderson retired from Freedom In Christ Ministries and incorporated Discipleship Counseling Ministries, conducting conferences for Christian leaders around the world.

Among his forty books he is best known for The Bondage Breaker and Victory Over Darkness.

"Many pastors are overwhelmed by the problems besetting their people, and some feel they are not adequately equipped to deal with them. In addition, most pastors don't want or can't handle one more activity on their plate.

“Freedom in Christ Ministries is fully aware of the problems that pastors are facing. In addition, there aren’t enough pastors and counselors in this country to help more than five percent of the population if that is all they did.

“We have to equip the lay person to do the work of ministry or it is not going to get done. Discipleship Counseling is a ministry that can be accomplished by well trained lay people. Several exploratory studies and research dissertations are clearly showing the positive results of Discipleship Counseling and the encouragers in the studies were all lay people.

“The process works, because Discipleship Counseling intentionally includes God in the process. He is the Wonderful Counselor and the only One who can set a captive free and bind up the broken hearted. I am asking Christian leaders to give us a day to show them how this can happen in their church at a minimal cost. It will take a heavy load off the pastor and many will be helped in the process. A church full of liberated people will become the salt and light in a dark world that desperately needs the Light of God's glory.” Read more.

Dr. Anderson’s paradigm shifts

“The first major perceptual change came when I began to realize that every defeated Christian I was trying to help had several things in common:
- None of them knew who they were in Christ, nor did they understand what it really meant to be a child of God.
- They were ignorant of their spiritual heritage, and that is still the case all around the world.
- Lack of genuine repentance is another reason that God’s children are not experiencing their freedom in Christ.

“Understanding the reality of the spiritual world and how believers should interact with it was another major paradigm shift for me.”

Endorsements

“Dr. Neil Anderson's work has the virtue of bringing together streams of the evangelical church that have often functioned either separately or in conflict with each other. His solid evangelical outlook and theological depth, his understanding of the dynamics of spiritual bondage and deliverance, and his therapeutic focus combine to make him a unique resource for the Body of Christ. “The complexity of personal problems confronted by modern believers is greater than ever. People come to our churches with baggage that includes occult involvement, sexual bondage, substance abuse and sexual identity problems. Pastoral care approaches therefore need to become equally complex.
