Praise and Worship Event

April 12, 2008

For third time of prayer, 40 anointed intercessors gathered at Congregación León de Judá. The keyboard was played beautifully by Sharon Schaff, who led the worship, sometimes accompanied by Chaletta Huertas.

"Thank You for Your sweet presence in our midst. We pray that You will surround New England. We send your Spirit to the northernmost parts of Maine, to the southernmost parts of Rhode Island and Connecticut, through Massachusetts and to New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

"We pray that the deep, deep wells of revival will be reactivated, wells dug by men and women who venerated Your Word. We pray those pacts and covenants will once again vibrate with life.

"We go back on our word, Lord, but You remain faithful forever. We pray that the fervency that brought men and women so far, at such cost, will be reactivated in Your Church today.

"Manifest Yourself again, Holy Spirit. Raise Your prophets. Raise Your priests. Raise Your apostles, raise Your prophets, raise Your evangelists, raise Your pastors and teachers.

"We bind the power of the Enemy. He has no legitimacy. He has nothing to stand on. We have Your Word to stand on. We crush the shackles of arrogance, pride, humanism."

"It's already here in the city. We have what we need. He wants us to invade the workplace, the arts, the media. It's time to move."

"We trust in Your grace. We trust in Your anointing. We speak forth life because it starts from You. The lines have fallen for us in beautiful places, O Lord. We have a beautiful inheritance. 'Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains sing together for joy...'[Ps. 98:8]

"1 Kings 11:4: 'For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David.'

"Solomon's heart was not really devoted to the Lord. Is this attitude somewhere in our hearts? Ps. 139:23: 'Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.' Is there a little more you can give? I was hearing angels. Don't be shy because there are people around."

This word encouraged the group to be really free in their expression.

"Here is Psalm 105: 7-12. Think of Boston and New England each time you hear 'covenant':

 7 He is the LORD our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
8 He remembers His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,
9 The covenant which He made with Abraham,
          And His oath to Isaac,
10 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the allotment of your inheritance,”
12 When they were few in number,
Indeed very few, and strangers in it.' "

"Humble us, Lord, so it not our will, but Your will, that is done. Amen and amen."

Gail Thomas to speak at two churches

Gail Thomas is associated with the Institute for Hebraic-Christian Studies (IHCS) - New England.

She says of herself: " An appropriate term to describe my identity while growing up was proud. Proud of my personal heritage, proud to be an American and particularly, proud to be self sufficient. Sounds good, yet these very attributes were stumbling blocks in recognizing my need for Jesus. A difficult life circumstance brought me to the realization of my need and I humbly came before God and asked Him to teach me His ways.

"Surrendering my heart to the Father brought the full revelation of the Son. My thirst to grow and acknowledge Him in all things has reaped years filled with refining trials and close encounters with His magnificent love. Hunger for deeper insights led to the study of the Hebraic roots of Christianity in order to discover the riches Jesus revealed on the road to Emmaus. 'And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Luke 24:27 KJV)'

"I appreciate being involved with Covenant for New England. It is deeply moving that the faithful work of the Pilgrims in laying a good foundation provided the path upon which we are now entering into a fresh move of God to redeem and restore. Such an endeavor, then as now, requires the imperative to covenant with one another towards a common goal. By pursuing loving unity, Covenant for New England is building up the Spiritual dwelling for revival.

Five days of 24/7 Prayer and Worship at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary

(Thanks to Jon Friz for this report.) Last week Gordon-Conwell student association hosted "The Seed of Revival", 5 days of 24/7 prayer and worship. The Great Room was transformed from a student lounge to a worship space. God asked Chanyoung Kim, the student president, to do this. Another student said, "Of course God showed up, He called the prayer meeting". It was God's idea and He was manifestly present.

The first night I walked into the worship room and was struck by the thick presence of God in the place, something I was not used to finding at the Seminary. I walked back to our intercession room but did not mention anything to my friend. Then he walked into the worship room and came back laughing: "It's really strong in there!" he said. He later told me, "I don't usually notice that kind of stuff, but that night God's presence was unmistakable."

God was manifest in our times of worship in a way I have never experienced at the Seminary. There was also a greater freedom and a greater passion in our worship and prayer together than I have experienced. Many lives were touched, including mine. It's not as though I was lukewarm before the Seed of Revival, but my hunger for God has noticeably increased since then.

On my way to school the Monday after "Seed", God surprised me in the car. I was listening to Him and His presence kept getting stronger and stronger as I approached the Seminary. Then He said, "It's still there." God was referring to His Presence that we had been experiencing in a deeper way at the Seminary. He was also referring to "the Seed" that had been planted at Gordon-Conwell the week before—The Seed remains in the ground; may it prosper, grow, and bear much fruit!

Gordon, Endicott and Salem State Colleges Unite in Prayer

(Thanks to Scott Kearney for this report.) Several student leaders from Gordon, Endicott and Salem State, along with some church leaders on the North Shore have been meeting, praying and planning during the past few months. This fledgling group of believers has taken the name North Shore College Christian Fellowship (NSCCF). Our goals are unity and evangelism. We hope for unity among the body of Christ on each of our campuses, unity of the body between the campuses, and unity between the campuses and the evangelical churches on the North Shore. We also hope and believe that as we are unified that God will be pleased to use us to reach the lost around us.

Our first event is scheduled for 7:00 PM Saturday May 3rd, in The Kingdom Life Center located at 127 North Street, Salem MA, 01970. We will be meeting together as a large group for the first time to sing praises, to pray, and to hear from God's word. We have called this event "Unite to Ignite" as that captures our two-fold goal of unity and evangelism.

We welcome your participation in "Unite to Ignite" – at least to join us in praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, but also to see if you or others from your church would be interested in joining us on the 3rd.

And, if you will forgive my boldness, I am writing to ask for your church's help. We're poor -- college students! Would you prayerfully consider the following ways in which your church could join with us in this exciting event:

Cookies
Van rides
Sound System, etc.

If you like the good idea, one of our NSCCF leaders would be happy to come to your Sunday service to do a "minute for mission" between now and the end of April. If you have any questions about NSCCF or about "Unite to Ignite" please e-mail me or call 603-731-2399.
